The FIDUCEO FCDRS span the three major wavelength domains of passive Earth Observation:
- reflectance wavelengths (VIS)
- infra- red (IR) and
- microwave (MW).
For each sensor type, uncertainty is analysed based on an instrument calibration model; while the details differ between sensors, the principles can be considered general.
The FCDRs addressed are SSM-T2/ AMSU-B/ MHS, MVIRI, HIRS and AVHRR. This choice of FCDRs was driven by their longevity; their importance to many CDRs (existing and potential); their relevance to consistent re-analysis in numerical weather prediction (NWP); and their importance to continuity with Sentinel-era observations.
