Additional resources to learn the principles
The FIDUCEO methodology assumes an understanding of uncertainty, error covariance and the concepts of metrology. The following materials can be used to revise or learn these concepts:
- [Beginner’s level]: Measurement Uncertainties Explained, e-course available from the National Physical Laboratory e-course portal (registration required, free. There is also a more complete “Introduction to Measurement Uncertainties” that is charged). (1.5 hrs)
- [Lower intermediate level]: Uncertainty Analysis for Earth Observation, e-course freely available from the NPL e-course portal (registration required, free). (~6 hrs)
- [Lower intermediate level]: MetEOC project text book covering similar material to the uncertainty analysis for Earth Observation e-course.
- QA4EO Framework: Quality Assurance Framework for Earth Observation
- The BIPM website for information about world metrology and access to the GUM and its supplements
