Supporting bilingual people with aphasia in their rehabilitation journey: Where are we now?
Bilingual people with aphasia often begin their rehabilitation journey by being admitted to hospital, following a stroke. This presentation will provide an overview of research exploring some of the complex issues that arise for bilingual people with aphasia and their treating health professionals in hospital settings.
Speaker Bio
Dr Samantha Siyambalapitiya is a Senior Lecturer and the Program Director of the Master of Speech Pathology at Griffith University, Australia. She leads a program of research which aims to improve the provision of culturally responsive healthcare, in particular for adults with acquired communication disorders such as aphasia.
